Qualifications
Founder Stephen P. Adams and his team have more than 25 years of work experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors. Their experience includes:
- Balancing community resident needs with the needs of funders, government entities, local businesses and community based organizations
- Planning and developing effective processes for communities to overcome workforce development barriers
- Dealing with the social, financial and political aspects of community economic development
- Creating turn key development planning and pre-construction projects.
- Using innovative and effective approaches to helping existing organizations improve their core operations, new organizations to start up and grow, and low income individuals to build financial assets
Founder
Steve Adams has a wide range of experience in community and economic development. After graduating from Marquette University in 1975, Steve worked in various technical and managerial jobs—primarily serving private sector commercial and industrial customers. From1982-2000 he held various public works managerial positions on development projects for Milwaukee County and the City of Milwaukee. In 2000 he became the Executive Director of a community development corporation serving Milwaukee’s inner city.
In 2003 , Steve started Community Development Management Partnerships (a consulting business) to work primarily on community economic development and organizational development issues. A major project included the Harambee Great Neighborhood Initiative sponsored thru the Riverworks Development Corporation and the Milwaukee office of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC).
In addition, he was part of the project team involved in the multi-year planning and development phases of the Making Connections Milwaukee Initiative. The Initiative, designed to “improve(e) outcomes for children by strengthening families and transforming communities,” was funded by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and local foundations (?). He is presently part of the project team engaged in a planning and fund development effort designed to expand the Milwaukee Health Services, Inc.’s community healthcare facilities.
Steve has also coordinated public involvement and outreach for projects in Milwaukee and the seven county southeastern Wisconsin region.
